American Jordan Stolz achieved the 500m and 1000m double, a feat not seen in men's speed skating for 46 years, at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Saturday.
Three days after his Olympic title in the 1000m, 21-year-old Stolz claimed the 500m gold medal with a time of 33.77sec, once again ahead of Dutchman Jenning de Boo, who finished 0.11sec behind.
Canadian Laurent Dubreuil was third 0.49sec behind Stolz.
In his first Olympics in 2022, Stolz finished 13th in the 500m, the event in which he went on to become world champion in 2023 and 2024.
The last skater to achieve the double was American Eric Heiden who won all five titles at the 1980 Winter Games in Lake Placid.
